About Me

Registered Dietitian and Intuitive Eating Counsellor

If you are feeling stuck, overwhelmed or restricted by food rules and diets I can help you to improve your relationship with food. I have been working in medical nutrition therapy for over 10 years.

I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Human Nutrition and I am registered with the College of Dietitians of Ontario. I am also a Certified Intuitive Eating Counsellor and a Certified Diabetes Educator.

Using a mindfulness and Intuitive Eating approach, I can provide you with the opportunity to explore and understand your relationship with food while also supporting your health.

Services

I provide one on one nutrition and intuitive eating counselling either online or in-person. In person sessions are offered at WellSpace Trauma Therapy Clinic  located at 908 Bathurst St.

Intuitive Eating

Intuitive eating combines mindfulness with body centered practices enabling you to develop greater insight, self-awareness and self-acceptance around your relationship with food. Through the practice of intuitive eating people learn to let go of food rules and develop a positive, comfortable and flexible eating experience. Ultimately making peace with food.

Eating Disorders

A Registered Dietitian is a vital part of a team that works together to treat eating disorders. But because eating disorders are about more than just food and the body, a holistic approach is recommended to support you through treatment. A physician, dietitian and therapist are all important members of the care team. If you are not already connected to a therapist, I can help you find one.

Medical Nutrition Therapy

I can help you navigate the following diagnoses from an intuitive eating lens. I also specialize in supporting the following diagnoses in conjunction with eating disorders and disordered eating treatment.

  • Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)
  • Non Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD)
  • Diabetes
  • Gut health

My Approach

I believe that successful nutrition therapy involves interaction between the mind and body. By combining nutrition science and intuitive eating, I help clients connect with their inner wisdom, learn to chose foods that are right for them and create a healthy relationship with food. In my practice, I use a weight inclusive approach. Rather than focusing on weight, I focus on the many other factors that contribute to the health of my clients such as satisfaction, psychological well-being and body awareness.

Cost

“It’s never been true, not anywhere at any time, that the value of a soul, of a human spirit, is dependent on a number on a scale. We are unrepeatable beings of light and space and water who need these physical vehicles to get around. When we start defining ourselves by that which can be measured or weighed, something deep within us rebels.
We don’t want to EAT hot fudge sundaes as much as we want our lives to BE hot fudge sundaes. We want to come home to ourselves.”
-Geneen Roth
“…Normal eating is being able to give some thought to your food selection so you get nutritious food, but not being so wary and restrictive that you miss out on enjoyable food… Normal eating takes up some of your time and attention, but keeps its place as only one important area of your life. In short, normal eating is flexible. It varies in response to your hunger, your schedule, your proximity to food and your feelings.”
